Oblivion:Buy a house in the Imperial City
|
Quick Walkthrough[edit]
- Talk to Vinicia Melissaeia.
- The house itself costs 2,000 septims, but you will need to furnish it completely (five upgrades) to complete the quest.
Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Affordable is the Word[edit]
To buy a property in the Imperial City, you will need to speak to Vinicia Melissaeia. She works at the Office of Imperial Commerce in the Market District, where her main job is dealing with complaints about the local merchants. As long as her disposition is above 50, when you ask about properties in town she will at first be quite surprised by your interest, before explaining that the only thing available at the moment is a "hovel on the Waterfront".
All that is required is for you to pay 2,000 gold and she will hand the keys over. The shack itself is on the northwest end of the Waterfront, next to Armand Christophe's House and in front of Jair's Shack.
As Fancy as Possible[edit]
Vinicia will leave you with the suggestion that you visit Sergius Verus at Three Brothers Trade Goods to buy some furniture to spruce things up. Sergius will sell you all 5 upgrades, each for a base price of 400 gold. These are: House Dining Area, House Kitchen Area, House Sitting Area, House Storage Area and House Wall Hangings. See the house page for more information of what each buys you.
Alternatively, you'll be able to steal some upgrades from local citizens:
- House Kitchen Area: Stantus Varrid's private chambers or Tertius Favonius' private quarters.
- House Storage Area: Luronk gro-Glurzog's basement or Marinus Catiotus' basement.
- House Wall Hangings: Luronk gro-Glurzog's basement, Stantus Varrid's private chambers or Tertius Favonius' private quarters.
Once you have all five upgrades in your possession the quest will be complete.

- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage HouseImperialCity stage
, wherestage
is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
