Tekla is a Nord citizen of Falkreath, where she works as a maid to Dengeir of Stuhn, who believes she is spying on him for his nephew, Jarl Siddgeir. She is Solaf's girlfriend, and Narri's sister. Narri occasionally asks her boss, Valga Vinicia the innkeeper, to consider hiring Tekla, though she will always decline saying she cannot afford to hire both of them.
Tekla is evidently distressed by Dengeir's doubts about her, and will often be encouraged and thanked for her hard work by Dengeir's brother, Thadgeir, when Dengeir fails to do so himself. Despite Dengeir's doubts about her, he also evidently trusts her greatly; if the Stormcloaks take Falkreath, Dengeir will be appointed jarl. He will in turn appoint Tekla as his steward.
As steward, she may sometimes give you bounty letters and if you have the Hearthfire add-on, she will also sell you the land upon which Lakeview Manor is built. If the Empire retakes Falkreath, she will join Dengeir in exile in Candlehearth Hall in Windhelm.
She wears a set of farm clothes, a pair of boots, and a hat. She carries a key to Dengeir's house, and a selection of common loot and gold.
Dialogue[edit]
When spoken to as a maid, Tekla will generally be dismissive:
- "Try not to judge Falkreath too harshly, visitor – the war has been hard on us."
- "I'm sorry, I should really go now."
- "I can't really help you, I'm just Dengeir's maid."
When she gets promoted to steward, however, she will be more talkative, albeit still doubtful of herself:
- "From maid to Steward, I can hardly believe it. I hope I'm up to the task."
You can now also ask how she got her promotion:
- How does a maid become a Steward?
- "Comes down to trust, I expect. After Dengeir gave up his seat to his nephew, he didn't trust anyone. Everywhere he looks, he sees assassins, spies an' plots against him. I'm the only one he confides in. So, when he was made Jarl again, he didn't wait a moment to name me his Steward. He said I was the only choice."
You can also make the observation that she seems nervous about her new station:
- You sound nervous about being the new Steward.
- "I should think so! I'm well used to taking care of a house and the folk living in it. Taking care of the entire hold is another matter entirely. It would be a big enough job without the war on and the dragons about. I just hope I can do right by the good folk who are looking to us to see to their needs."
When exiting conversation, she may now say:
- "Don't judge Dengeir too harshly. He is old, but he means well."
She might also try a more official-sounding:
- "May your time in Falkreath be pleasant."
Conversations[edit]
Inside Dengeir's House, the former jarl might speak to Tekla about her tasks:
- Dengeir: "Tekla. The Hall is filthy. See to your cleaning."
- Tekla: "Yes sir."
His brother, Thadgeir, will be more kind-hearted and encourage her:
- Thadgeir: "Don't let my brother get to you, Tekla. You're doing a fine job around here."
- Tekla: "Thank you sir."
Inside of the local inn, she may speak with her sister Narri, or with innkeeper Valga Vinicia:
- Tekla: "Narri, do you think the war will ever end?"
- Narri: "I think the war is just an excuse. If it does end there will be a new reason and a new place."
- Tekla: "But what about the banning of Talos worship? Isn't that worth fighting about?"
- Narri: "I don't know about you, tekla [sic], but all my prayers are silent and who I pray to is still my own to decide."
- Valga: "Tekla! It's good to see you, girl. How's Dengeir treating you?"
- Tekla: "As he should I suppose."
- Valga: "Hmmm, well don't take what you don't have to."
An earlier iteration of the local smith, Lod, was also supposed to hit on her here, but as Lod never heads to the inn in the final game, this scene goes unused:
- Lod: "Ah Tekla, you're a pretty little mouse."
- Tekla: "Leave me alone, Lod."
- Lod: "Alright, but if you ever want to leave that old curmudgeon I've got plenty for you to do at Gentle Repose."
