Tamriel Rebuilt:Velothi Towers
For the Morrowind article, see here.
Introduction[edit]
The architecture of the Velothi style found its grandest expression in the cantons of Vivec, but the domes of that sacred city are easily recognizable in the smaller turrets that crop up in the more secluded places of Vvardenfell and mainland Morrowind. These constructions often consist of underground elements, crowned by a large room beneath the exposed dome. They are favored by wizards of all factions and none (particularly those of House Telvanni), providing a convenient base for them to conjure up Daedra, raise undead or conduct other esoteric studies.
Mages have far from a monopoly on these ancient edifices however, for the Tribunal Temple maintains some as monasteries, while the Great Houses are not averse to using the towers as garrisoned strongholds on the borders of their lands. Such examples include Ramaniran on the Hlaalu-Redoran border and Haliwaran, between the Imperial settlement of Old Ebonheart and the lands of House Indoril.
